I have a excellent resume and experience. I just don't have a college degree. I have computer experience, but not in the program that they specifiy, but most people have to be trained on their programs anyway. I learn real fast so what's the problem? How do I make these employers give me a chance? Im hard working and very dependable.
Answers:
1Times have changed since the last time you have looked for a job. First off, make sure you have grieved out whatever remaining anger or sadness you have over losing your job. Sometimes that seeps out in interviews and that will kill your chances. You have to be honest, but try and keep it short and upbeat when discussing your last employer.
Don't minimize a college degree--they are still valued for a reason. You are competing for jobs with all the newly minted college graduates, too. You have experience, they only have a degree. But in an employers eyes, it is cheaper to hire the newbie with a degree than to hire you will a lot of experience.
Also, no employer wants to train you on anything. They want someone who can hit the ground running and do their job in as little time as possible.
Go to some community college or short term classes at the State Employment agency and get updated skills. Many offer free classes, even the library offers some free classes sometimes. Learn to compete in today's market and update your skills. Good luck!
